Access Control List(ACL)

Article summary

If you want to make the platform multi tenant you can do so via the access control list(ACL) and setting sentries to private. This will allow you to add your customers to the team and give them access to the sentry that belongs to them. This means they will only see sentries that they have been given access to.

When you create a sentry it is by default set to private. Private sentries can only be seen by team members who have a role of "Admin" and above and by users who have been added to the sentries access control list(ACL). An access control list (ACL) is made up of rules that either allow access to a sentry or deny it.

As shown in the image below if you go to a sentry(external, internal, cloud) and navigate to the setting tab you can see if a sentry is set to private or public.

In the image above the sentry is set to private. If you click the "Private Sentry" button it will be set to public. When a sentry is set to public every user within the team can view it. Even if they have not been added to the access control list(ACL). However, if it is set to private and you are not an "Admin" you will have to bee added to the ACL to view the sentry.

As shown in the image above navigating to the "User Access" tab under the "Settings" page will display that sentries ACL. This can be used to configure who has access to the sentry if it is set to private. You can see a table of currently added users and if you click the "Add User" button you can add additional users. After a user is added to the sentries ACL they will be able to view and interact with the sentry.

Remember a sentry is set to private by default which means only Admins and users added to the ACL will be able to see the sentry. If a user is unable to see a sentry that was created try adding them to that sentries ACL.
